Fiona (08/01/1970 - 27/10/2012)

Our story

In 2007 my wife Fiona was diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer. She had a large tumour removed in an operation which also involved a hysterectomy. Her treatment was finished off with a course of chemotherapy. This all came as a bit of a shock as she was only in her late thirties, was a healthy weight and showed no outward signs that anything was wrong. We only found out anything was wrong when she went to her doctor with a persistent stomach ache.

Less than a year later the cancer had started developing again in other locations and we found ourselves sat in front of a cancer specialist being told that she had just two years left to live. She was then given a range of advice which tended to be along the lines of "consider retirement", "plan holidays" and "enjoy what time you have left".

To be honest this advice made us very angry because it was all about accepting an inevitable fate with no possibility of fighting back. I had previously read a book called 'Raw Energy' by Leslie Kenton and remembered it had a section about the beneficial effects of raw food on fighting cancer. As a result of some quite extensive research Fiona changed her diet completely and we believe that helped to turn two years into nearly five. She has had further courses of chemotherapy since then but what we have learnt has also enhanced the effectiveness of the treatments and subsequent recovery periods. Fiona would have a chemotherapy treatment on a thursday, have friday, saturday, sunday and monday off and then return to work on the tuesday. She even answered the telephone one day when human resources rang up asking for her six month sick certificate!

Sadly Fiona passed away in 2012 but the information we found has been used by others as well and all have found similar results.

Fight back and take control again

One of the main advantages of everything we did was that she was able to fight back. The psychological advantage of not just being a victim waiting to die is worth the effort alone but we found there were other beneficial side effects as well. For one thing my wife looked ten years younger and so healthy that when we went for her regular check-ups people would smile at her and look compassionately at me!

Objectives of this website

We've been asked for advice by quite a few people in similar situations so we've put the information up on this website to make it easier to reference. I am not a medical professional and have no medical training or background. The information given on this website is purely a compilation of our research. It is meant to give people a head start on their own research and should only be used as such. It is given on a take it or leave it basis and hopefully should be useful when used as intended.

If you only take one thing from the information on this website then let it be that there is always something you can do to keep fighting back.
